I’m Laura Marie Peguero, a bilingual school psychologist. I take on independent educational evaluations, mental health (ERMHS) assessments and assistive technology assessments for districts, SELPAs, agencies and educational attorneys, in Spanish and English.

ERMHS / ERIC mental health assessments
Intensive educationally related mental health assessments. With mental health departments cut, this work is landing back on school psychologists, and it’s one of my strengths.
Assistive technology assessments
I’m trained to match students with the right tools: communication devices (push button and eye gaze) for students without speech, and supports like word prediction, speech to text, text to speech and audiobooks for students with dyslexia.
Contract assessments
Overflow and backlog assessments for districts and agencies, completed on time and ready for the IEP.
DIS counseling
Designated instruction and services counseling written into a student’s IEP.
Consultation & IEP meetings
I present my findings, answer team and parent questions, and stand behind my reports.

About
Rigorous work, warm delivery
I’ve worked as a school psychologist since 2012: nine years at a SELPA as NPS liaison and preschool and DHH psychologist, a year as Pasadena Unified’s district-wide behavior specialist, and since then virtual and contract assessment work across Southern California. I know how districts, SELPAs and agencies work from the inside.
Beyond psychoeducational testing, I’ve built expertise in two areas districts increasingly need help with: intensive ERMHS mental health assessments and assistive technology, including AAC and specialized equipment.
My approach pairs legally sound assessment with the clarity and warmth families need to feel like true partners in their child’s education.
